Antibacterial

The inherent properties of the textile fibers provide room for the growth of micro-organisms. Besides, the structure of the substrates and the chemical processes may induce the growth of microbes.

Humid and warm environment still aggravate the problem. Infestation by microbes causes development of odour where the fabric is worn next to skin.

With a view to protect the wearer and the textile substrate itself antimicrobial finish is applied to textile materials. The activity which affects the bacteria is known as antibacterial, Microbes like bacteria are further sub-divided into Gram positive and Gram Negative.

The application of the finish is extended to textiles used for outdoor, healthcare sector, sports and leisure . All articles of apparel and home textiles are susceptible to problems of hygiene in normal daily use for eg. Socks, sportswear and working clothes as well as mattresses, floor coverings, etc.
